Social Responsibility
The dawn of a new phase for the Third Sector in Brazil – with more sustainability, professionalism and consolidated social networks – is the concrete achievement of NGO Brazil, the unprecedented “Trade Show” that brought together 300 NGOs, foundations, government organizations and the private sector in São Paulo on 3rd to 5th December, 2009. The 3-day non-profit event, at São Paulo’s Expo Center Norte, also offered eight lectures, three debates, five mini-courses, 17 round tables, two presentations of case histories and interaction with international NGOs – all free of charge – and in one day open to the public attracted 9,814 visitors.
The event was organized by UBM Brazil, the Brazilian subsidiary of leading global business media group UBM (United Business Media) – which invested approximately half a million Reais in it – and São Paulo City’s Participation and Partnership Department. It aimed to promote professionalization and sustainability in non-governmental organizations, and offer them a unique chance to share experiences and stimulating inter-organization networking.
Due to the success of this first event in Brazil, United Business Media announced it may also organise the event in England, India and China, with the same objectives: to give each country’s NGOs an opportunity to make contacts, update skills and experience, exchange ideas and raise funds. The countdown for NGO Brazil 2010 has started.
